BoB Pitch Terms & Conditions
1. Acceptance of Terms
By submitting an application to BoB Pitch, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms & Conditions, the Founder Participation Pack, and any additional program guidelines communicated by The Nod.
Participation in any stage of BoB Pitch constitutes acceptance of these terms.
2. Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Meet the eligibility requirements outlined in the Founder Participation Pack
- Be authorized to represent the startup being submitted
- Provide accurate and complete information
- Meet all program deadlines and requirements
The Nod reserves the right to request verification of eligibility at any stage.
3. Application Requirements
Applicants must submit all required materials outlined in the Founder Participation Pack.
Incomplete applications may not be reviewed.
Submission of an application does not guarantee selection as a finalist or Grand Winner.
4. Competition Structure
BoB Pitch includes:
- Application submission
- Eligibility screening
- Judge panel evaluation
- Top 5 finalist selection
- Live pitch participation at BTF Social
- Grand Winner selection
BoB pitch reserves the right to modify the competition structure where necessary.
5. Selection & Judging Discretion
All judging and selection decisions are final.
Evaluation may include, but is not limited to:
- Problem significance
- Market opportunity
- Founder capability
- Commercial viability
- AI leverage
- Scalability potential
- Product readiness
- Pitch effectiveness
The Nod reserves sole discretion regarding selection, advancement, and winner determination.
6. Grand Winner Award
The Grand Winner will be eligible to access up to CAD $35,000, funded through ticket sales generated from BTF Summit 2.0.
The final amount is not guaranteed and will be determined based on actual Summit ticket sales. For the purposes of calculating the maximum potential amount, ticket revenue projections are based on an average ticket value of CAD $55 and a maximum venue capacity of 700 attendees at the Maclab Theatre, Citadel Theatre.
The Grand Winner shall not exceed the net ticket sales revenue generated through BTF Summit 2.0 and may be less than CAD $35,000 if ticket sales do not reach venue capacity, if the average ticket value differs from the projected amount, or if complimentary, discounted, sponsored, or promotional tickets are issued.
The final amount shall be determined solely by Black to the Future (BTF) based on actual ticket sales records and event revenue reconciliation.
Announcement will be made within maximum thirty (30) days following the completion of the Summit and final reconciliation of ticket sales.
In addition to the award, the Grand Winner may receive access to startup growth resources and in-kind support valued at over CAD $120,000, which may include:
- Legal and business support
• Branding and design services
• Product development support
• Investor readiness preparation
• Sales and commercialization infrastructure
• Mentorship and founder support
The estimated value of in-kind support is based on partner contributions and market value assessments. BTF reserves the right to modify, substitute, or adjust any support offerings based on partner availability, program capacity, and operational requirements.
7. Intellectual Property Ownership
Your intellectual property remains your intellectual property.
Submitting an application or participating in BoB Pitch does not transfer, assign, or grant ownership rights to The Nod, BTF Summit, judges, partners, or affiliated organizations.
Applicants should avoid sharing confidential trade secrets or highly sensitive proprietary information they are not comfortable disclosing.
8. Confidentiality & Public Disclosure
Application materials are reviewed only by BoB Pitch judges and program operations personnel.
While reasonable efforts will be made to maintain confidentiality, The Nod cannot guarantee complete confidentiality of materials submitted.
Applicants should only disclose information they are comfortable sharing.
9. Media Release & Publicity
By participating, applicants grant The Nod and BTF Summit permission to use:
- Names
- Company names
- Logos
- Photos
- Videos
- Quotes
- Pitch footage
for promotional, editorial, educational, and archival purposes.
10. Data Collection & Privacy
Applicant information may be collected and used for:
- Program administration
- Application review
- Founder communications
- Ecosystem opportunities
- Future founder programs
Information will be handled according to applicable privacy laws.
11. Due Diligence Requirements
Selected finalists or winners may be required to provide:
- Business registration information
- Ownership information
- Financial documentation
- Supporting business records
- Other materials required for investment review
Failure to provide requested documentation may affect eligibility.
12. Disqualification Rights
The Nod reserves the right to remove or disqualify participants for:
- False or misleading information
- Failure to meet eligibility requirements
- Missed deadlines
- Conduct inconsistent with program values
- Violations of program requirements
13. No Guarantee of Funding or Outcomes
Participation does not guarantee:
- Investment funding
- Partnerships
- Media opportunities
- Resource access
- Business outcomes
14. Limitation of Liability
The Nod, BTF Summit, judges, sponsors, and affiliated organizations shall not be responsible for damages, losses, claims, or liabilities arising from participation in BoB Pitch.
15. Program Modification Rights
The Nod reserves the right to modify, postpone, suspend, or cancel any portion of BoB Pitch at its discretion.
16. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions shall be governed by the laws of Alberta and the applicable laws of Canada.
17. Applicant Acknowledgement
By submitting an application, you acknowledge that:
- Information submitted is accurate
- You meet program requirements
- You understand media and participation requirements
- You understand IP and confidentiality provisions
- You agree to these Terms & Conditions
